Gitlab Merge Request Tools is a Chrome plugin designed to assist with merge requests. Developed by willboulter1, this free tool offers two main features to enhance the merge request process.
The first feature allows users to filter merge request files using wildcard patterns. This feature aims to improve responsiveness, particularly for massive merge requests. By filtering out unnecessary files, users can focus on reviewing the relevant changes.
The second feature provides checkboxes to filter out renamed or deleted files. Since these types of files often require less review, this feature helps streamline the review process.
Filtered files are hidden from view, both in the diffs and the tree view, by setting their display to "none".
However, there are a few known limitations to be aware of. Firstly, when a merge request is still loading files, the filters are not applied to newly added files. Users simply need to click "apply" again after the loading process is complete. Additionally, the tool fails when folders in the file tree view are collapsed. Lastly, if filters are applied and then the tree view is opened, users will need to apply the filters again for them to take effect.
Gitlab Merge Request Tools is a valuable addition to the merge request workflow for Chrome users, offering helpful filtering capabilities to enhance the reviewing process.
